Canoe Racing

Canoe Racing is now a popular activity in Kosrae, especially for my Municipality. All the villages are now practicing this event for there is a set date for "Competitions" among these villages. The funny side of this event is, in my village, we don't have a lagoon which cause the people in my village not to accustom to canoe-racing. Thus, there was a legend about my people, being so stupid while paddling a canoe. It was their first time to be in a boat that while they were paddling their canoe, they saw the reflection of the moon under the water thinking that they can get it out of the water. One by one, they jumped out of the boat to get the moon and never made it back because they didn't know how to swim and it was very deep down there. Anyway, the term used for my people is "Lela" meaning, people that know nothing about sea and canoe racing. As of now, we are now doing our best to prove them wrong that we practice so hard every now and then to change this term, which is an embarrassment to us. Anyway, stay tune for the outcome of this event, which will be done on October 23 and 24, 2009. What a wow!
